Freedom From (Religious Expression)

Freedom From (Religious Expression)

A Poem by Matteus Ducey
"

religious people, this song is about losing your religion, not bashing it. if for any reason anyone wants me to take this down don't flag it, just say the word and i'll delete it.

"
isn't it funny how the people who are the most "religious" are the people who drink, smoke, swear, fight, and lie the most? look at history and tell me: what exactly is their religion really teaching them? "do whatever you want and ask forgiveness and you'll receive it"? murders in prison on death row. "throw your beliefs in everyone's faces and make them change theirs, or destroy them and their way of life"? everyone from romans, and modern day "missionaries" and "witnesses".

eagerly they've walked your halls looking to punish others. they've beaten you too a pulp and sworn to f**k your mothers. no guidance, no discipline, they've tortured you and others.

you look up to the stars. look up to your god, what has he done for you? you look up to the sky, the empty sky. he's not looking back.

"you're going to hell", what if it doesn't exist. what if it's all just fantasy. a work of fiction, mythology. what if i worship a zombie. i don't get it. what if none of it's real, all just sci-fi. do we have facts or all just guesses. nothing i know is true.

angrily you run amok plotting other's downfalls. you've cheated them, lied to them, promised to kill them all. you take them all, break them all. do you feel better?

they look up to the scripts. look up to the book, what will this action change? they look up to the pages, the empty pages. meaningless scribbles.

"you're going to hell", it doesn't exist. it's all just fantasy. a work of fiction, mythology. you worship a zombie. why don't you get it? none of it's real, it's all just sci-fi. we have no facts, all just guesses. nothing you know is true.

very thought-provoking poem. i agree with everything you say...the worst thing i hate the most in this world is hypocrisy. i can't stand those hellfire brimstone self-righteous intolerant religious figures. listen, i don't find this offensive at all, it's actually enlightening. don't apologize for anything. there's the 1st amendment and who cares what anyone thinks, it matters you have faith in your own convictions. i get all worked up. great poem, profound statement.

you're right, we have freedom of speech. but whenever i mention something like this in public everyone gets all defensive. talking to a christian about their own history is like talking to a german about the holocaust "that didn't happen! prove it!", etc. but the thing that angers me the most about christians is that everything in their religion was stolen from pegan religions. the god, the names, the events, the imagery; yet they are so anti-peganism. look at the book of revelations: the "prophecies" and 4 horsemen are from the art on tarot cards.

all in all, i didn't want people to get the wrong idea. i wrote this song while looking back on my life (i was brainwashed as a christian when i was a very young age). but just because i don't agree with one person's beliefs doesn't mean they don't have the right to believe it...no matter how close minded those beliefs may be. i would just prefer if they would have the same morality when they look at me.

Yeah, it is all a fantasy, a construct. It is amazing how it goes on and on. We must need it, or some of us do. I think communism was one hell of a religion also. They did exactly what you talk about. They very violently threw their beliefs in others' faces, most definitely. They were proud of how they did it And they were definitely in the 'change and be like us or die business' the b******s. Preserve us from zealots of all kinds! But we can't all be free it seems. Life wld be one giant mosh pit of madness. Maybe that is what is best about rock. It lets us be free for a while. And it is a great way to tell them and it -- all who want to organise our lives because they think their view of how we should be -- to f**k off!
