Picasso inspiredA Poem by elephantWar is a mess must I remind
Trample the Madonna and her child to!
Tare the eyes of the blind and give them to you! Tell me what you see and then lie to me Loosen the yoke and let’s have the beasts run free. They pillage the poor and eat the starving to. They’re the boar or ram that defiles every tiny city near you But the lanterns are ablaze, and there is an end to this maze! Hunters crave the crazed let them stumble on! Let them be gone and let us bury the corpses they trampled upon You See, the sun pierce the fear and stand so high! Gazing through the dust of war and ash of the beloved nigh Let it settle softly on our brow. Make this remind us of the way it is now! © 2009 elephant |
