A bird and IA Poem by elephantexperimenting
I line my cage with feathers
These assorted portraits of striking shades Are my bright reminders lost too You Who are free of bleak captivity As I attempt to recollect a time of freedom I’m reminded of eternity and My perpetual prison of crimson Adorned meticulously with beauty and misery So piercing a display it dissolves the cage Yes, many salient shades hide my scarlet reds For every day recalled in these sullen grays A special feather was plucked and displayed Ultimately, all were laid, muting the depraved Eventually, turning my plight with flight Into a portrait of pain and resolve, radiating light Problem solved…. © 2009 elephant |
