To the rule

To the rule

A Poem by Kami Grace
"

Work, Eat, Work, Eat, Sleep, Repeat -- But what for?

"

Tick tocks as it runs from eight to six,

as letters pop into existence,

and to the chair legs tightly affix.

A painful drain on the crucifix,

or a grand showcase of persistence?

No answer, for it does not matter;

Matters is the prize in the distance,

of the power to craft and shatter.

“Mankind’s” “brilliant” “perseverance”.

Do we shape society, or does society shape us?
I wonder if the foundation of a civilisation marks also the birth of an asymptote.
As always, nice poem, and I hope it falls into the eyes of a reader worthy of the thoughts within.
