Feather

Feather

A Poem by Matthew Kult
"

Working off the rust

"
Sleek, black feather
Floats delicately to the ground.
Falls gracefully, coming together
Where it was quickly found.

Thin, playful child
Runs free, a little wild
Lifts it up to the sky,
Dreams he can fly.

Laughs and giggles,
Loses balance, plops down
Claps and wiggles
Mom in her nightgown.

Chases the little one
Mom got outrun.
Till little one falls.
For mom he calls.

Sleek, black feather
Floats delicately off the ground.
Lifts gracefully, once together
Drifting away for the next round.

Like the sleek black feather beginning. Not sure about the rest. Knocking off the rust.

I like the rhythm of this poem, Matthew. The poem reads fluently and with a nice pace. It reminds me of the beginning of the movie, “Forrest Gump”, where the story is told in association with the flight of a feather. Your sleek, black feather has more tales to tell as it floats away on its journey.

Sleek black feathers and I thought of ravens and blackbirds. Also the joy of finding a feather, as a small child. I always found them fascinating. I so wanted to fly. I wanted to know more here. Thank you Matthew.

I love that Matthew Kull, simplicity of life, even the trace of a feather can bring
some kind of harmony; I feel the world opens when you just trace,
