Tree of Woe (1-800-273-8255)

Tree of Woe (1-800-273-8255)

A Poem by Matthew Kult
"

Depression

"
I've been all alone.
Have nothing to show.
Nothing to call my own.
Just hanging from the tree of woe.

Nothing to show,
Nothing my own,
All alone,
On the tree of woe.

Trapped in my head.
Barely able to get out of bed.
Why does life have to be hard?
Nobody understands, or just disregard.

So I hide my tears,
My fears.
Want my existence ended.
Is this what was intended?

Nothing to show,
Nothing my own,
All alone,
On the tree of woe.

I won't be missed.
So why exist?
Those thoughts persist.
No reason to resist.

I want to die.
No longer cry.
Stop living a lie.
I, just, want, to die.

I've been all alone.
Have nothing to show.
Nothing to call my own.
Just hanging off the tree of woe.

Every day I force a reason why.
Why I shouldn't die,
And get by.
Continuing to try.

Try to survive,
Try to be alive.
Try to see tomorrow.
Try not to drown in sorrow.

You have described the depressive mind quite accurately in this poem. Sometimes life just gets too hard and weighs heavily on our shoulders and it seems that we just wander from one woe to another with bad luck becoming our shadow. It takes a monumental effort to overcome such thoughts but life is too precious to just throw away regardless of our woes. The repetition used reinforces the desperation of the feelings felt. Well portrayed.

Depression can be a devastating weight. It is so much more than a feeling. You captured it here in all its gloom and end your poem with slanted hope. Very powerful poem

Glad to see the help line up there if that’s what it is.In the staccato rhythmic layers of your poem you’ve laid down some solid woes and whether it’s the empty page or the price of tomatoes it really doesn’t matter…that river of depression is real and disconnection is the tide sweeping that sweeps us under so yes… three thousand percent agree… reach out, talk to someone and find that something to get you through even the next minute if necessary… well done!!

😢 Indeed, depression is much more prevalent than commonly known as there are many around us... suffering in silence☹️

Well done,

Alisa 😕

Depression. It is much more common than most realize...but do not cling to it, I think you are on the right track using poetry as a catharsis....the only alternative is to get tired of singing "Sons of vengeance won't you rescue me. They've got me tied to the woe tree" (Krokus/from the album "Headhunter") See? You inspired me to music, in my world, that is magical!

Not a nice place to be, but you have certainly captured the very essence of it here in your own inimitable way............In truth, there are black dogs everywhere......Neville
