Larger Than Life: A Collaboration With Sereenaoutloud

Larger Than Life: A Collaboration With Sereenaoutloud

A Poem by mattavelli

The ocean's so large it could swallow a barge
and have space for a train and a mall.
Now here is the gist. Yes, this is a list
of things that might make one feel small.

The size of the sun, compared to the earth;
its burning bright yellow glow
sits over 93 million miles away,
but can still burn us where ever we go.

A hurricane with its winds oh so fierce
can just smack me and knock me right down;
so I rarely go out to enjoy the breeze
when there's one blowing over my town.

The Grand Canyon and it's natural formation,
sweeping views and rocky lines so free.
When you visit don't stand too close to the edge
or you may wind up a spot for tourists to see.

there are many more things that may make you feel small;
too many to fit in this write,
but look up to the sky and for free you can feel
what it's like to be small in the night.

Excellent collab guys.
Insignifiacnce is a weird feeling - very grounding and of course its not only Earth that can makes us feel that way - sometimes the one's we love make us feel like we dont matter too.

The imagery is super HD - its like the Nat Geo channel of collabs here. Brilliant.

I guess every once in a while
When the ego over inflates
Its time to visit nature
To feel once again small

And live in balance
Very smart
Great work here ...... Bravo

Thanks Willard. Fun was the goal. :)
Awesome colab! Love the rhythm of the poem. We may be small and fragile compares to some elements, however you could also write a poem on things that make us feel big.

Great idea, E.L. Thanks for reading.
A jaunty and lilting poem with a serious message conveyed in quite vivid description.

Thank you, John.
I agree with the logic of the poem.
"but look up to the sky and for free you can feel
what it's like to be small in the night. "
After seeing the sea and the vast sky. Man should feel concern to get along with them. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
