The Fisherman's Paradise

The Fisherman's Paradise

A Poem by Matt "Mickey" Denney
"

To my Grandfather

"

Natural canopy covers forest above
Radian light beams through
Earth's natural labyrinth
Every direction winds pathways

The serpentine river cascades
Gravel bar in natural form
Odd driftwood lies about
Otters swim and play
Bluegill consume surface insects
Oft', fishermen are seen
Alone my Grandfather and I
I will always remember him
Here in lies perfect paradise

I love canopied walks through woods and forest, I was there with you seeing the beautiful light beams, I could hear the water and see the driftwood. I never knew any of my Grandparents...hence every older man and woman I see feels like a grandparent, I am fond of them all, even though I am a granny myself these days. There are still plenty older than me. This poem was a very beautiful meditative reflection. Thankyou.

an excellent poem about nature. you made it come alive. i live in a city and would love to experience the things you do in the (ozarks?). you really paint a lovely and tranquil painting of it.

I think it's great how you use visualization to capture a kind of nostalgia, using simple yet eloquent language.
