The Fall

The Fall

A Poem by Matt

We're on top of the world now,
look across the horizon at the beautiful view,
There's a real sense of belonging here,
but watch your step, its a long fall.
I slip and grab an edge to hang on
but now I see that look in your eyes,
I know its time to go.

The fall seems to take an eternity.
Burning up as I re-enter the atmosphere.
The Searing pain instills a fear that wasn't there before,
A fear of falling.

The descent finally ends
Body and mind scorched from the fall
I look to my surroundings, a barren desert.
Where is that beautiful horizon?
Looking up at the place from where I fell
It seems so far away now, there's no going back.

Our Language is incomplete
it fails to describe
this feeling inside
this subtle insanity.

Thoughts circle through my head now
like vultures circling the corpse of something that once was.
Why can't I go back?
Is this really what's in store for me?

This can't be it
there has to be more to this.

this is as heavy as one can get... like death metal u know..its wonderfully creative for the very first piece you have written and has a beautiful way of describing irony, fear and a bit of pain.
