Wishing Well

Wishing Well

A Poem by Freedom's Child
"

A person's hope for a better tomorrow

"
Sighing as he puts the penny to his thumbnail
flipping it to the rainy air
as it falls with gracefulness to the moon lit mystery water
breaking through the water's edge; rippling dreams across the well
spraying hope into the darkness
gliding to the bottom, swaying back and forth
until nestled among the other wished upon pennies
unable to release his eyes from the penny of hope
A tear slips from his eye, down his lip
falling with the rain to join the penny in hopes of a better tomorrow
one last sigh, one last glance at hope
he vanishes in the darkness
