Beauty and BeastA Poem by Freedom's Child
Crinkled and cracked hands toss the line to the dock
Crank the main to the top The crisp autumn winds takes jenny by the hand White caps extend across the water 12 knots flying The gasping sound of air breaking under a hull This wind driven day could be no better At three PM it must have been tomorrow Surely it could not be this adored day The rest easy blue sky with smirking gray clouds, gone Black sky with thorn covered stems of light Shattered glass ice is directed by the surgeon wind Dropping skin confetti to the deck The stampeding heart takes aim at the main Fear driven arms scrapping and yanking on the main The bucking boom relentlessly trying to give that fatal blow At last the main blinds the bull With the last of life's failing energy the ties to jenny are cut With a volcanic eruption the wind takes jenny away The knees clash against the bow Defeated blood makes the bow it's portrait's canvass A ear punishing roar vomits from the front of the bow Red buoy eyes look stories above the mast At last sight a white salty avalanche © 2012 Freedom's ChildReviews
