Sailor

Sailor

A Poem by Freedom's Child

A ship crafted to late and docked to early
This battered ship once sailed the seas with elegance
It saw the beauty of the early morning sea
It felt the anguish of a mighty northeastern

The seas were the music
And she was the graceful ballet dancer never to miss a beat
Always on her toes and never showing strain
She lived for the days the main was hoisted
Ready to embrace her destiny

The glassy seas she knew wouldn't stay
Ahead the cape a sea of hell
Razor blade winds and sky covering waves
No ship would ever try such suicide
But she knew there to be no other way

The ocean threw her every which way
Cursing her every breaking movement
She fought and fought and fought some more
In the end the outcome was clear

The ocean floor she found her rest
A sweet sweet ship she was
So sad to see a ship so young so far under
But no ship beats her destiny
