Mounting Moon

Mounting Moon

A Poem by Freedom's Child

You wrestle with a life you once owned
But never lived.
When the moon mounts above a snow capped mountain, you deny you lived long enough.
When in truth you never lived at all.
Day after day you stayed slouched at your coffin.
Terrified of a sullen journey outside your self created grave.
Waiting for the mounting moon
Waiting for the mounting moon
Life never passed you by, it never came your graveside way.
"Carpe Diem" an ancient word never translated in your life.
The moon WILL mount for someone tonight.
Maybe you?
Thoughts of who will remember creep in as the moon creeps closer.
No one to be sad or happy, just no one.
Build a fire in honor of the mounting moon.
Dance with the flames when the moon has mounted.
That is the secret escape from living long enough!
