the genie in the bottle

the genie in the bottle

A Poem by Matome Masipa

The genie in the bottle.

I look at you I see myself as the genie trapped in the bottle.

Cause I listen to all your problems and troubles

Our lives held in the shell of the turtle.

Slowly; our lives are going nowhere, or somewhere;

What am trying to tell you is that we unaware.

Our minds are probably sleeping, the eyes blindly staring what they perceive.

Even with your eyes closed don’t be ignorant you can still see clear.

Those where the words of a mind trapped on these pages

Learning life is the hardest lesson.
