snowflakes kept on fallingA Poem by Matome Masipathe story of two hearts caughtSnow flakes kept on falling Freezing broken glass by the window, My reflection on the ice; watching along with me while you
were slowly walking. Never turning back to reveal the glow of tears dropping from
your eyes. You hardly looked back as I screamed out your name, my words
crawling. My Heart stalling, giving you the impression am cold deep
down inside Maybe it was the piercing sound of you telling me I don't
love you Am so tired of stopping people when they want to leave What else can I do to make you believe? The same way you and I do; that snowflakes kept on falling, Freezing broken glasses by my window Into the cold you went, as what we had died with the last
kiss of winter's breath Cold, everything feels so cold The picture of you dragging your feet familiar and old. Sometimes I don't even know what we fighting over anymore, I ran after you madly and grabbed you by the hand pulling
you closer to me Let's forget the hurt for the sake of warming each other one
last time, Come inside and stop acting like it was never you I was
longing You can go marry him in the morning The neighbor poked out his window, his words were vague, Quietly we ignored him. Our kiss empty and cold and full of
so much hurt I shouldn't have told you; your love was incapable of
keeping me; I swore I heard the neighbor saying Don't be foolish young lovers, there is no love warm enough
to weather this winter storm. Can't you see snowflakes are falling? Into the cloudy sky I looked. Everything around us felt like our pain and our tears. i had found the first philosophy of my sorrow; As Snowflakes kept on falling © 2016 Matome Masipa |
