Acerbic

Acerbic

A Poem by mathiasthom

Empathy scented,
Hear the echo reverberating,
ricocheting off the walls,
settling beneath the skin

Lips crusted with thrush,
A rush of moving bodies
Sea of gray faces,
exiting the thoroughfare

Into the streets, garbage strewn
walking this self destructive,
road of ruin
Nameless book, running ink
alphabetic blood,
staining fingers black

At the crumbling curb,
cars honking displeasure
the weather takes its turn,
beating down gravity,
sheeting vengeful spit,
such nonjudgmental,
acerbic wit...
