Silent Sacrifice

Silent Sacrifice

A Poem by Matchbox Of Music
"

I won't tell

"

Don’t you see?
I had to cut our ties.
I had to make you hate me.
I had to expose your lies.

If I didn’t, I would still love you.

And I won’t ever tell
And I won’t ever say
That my heart is in hell
Because of the sacrifice that I made

But I finally helped you do,
What you never could before.
I helped you sacrifice something of you
For something that you used to care for.

You won’t see it now,
You might never see it at all.
But I helped both of us
By taking the fall.

There’s something about your first love
That you can’t ever forget.
Perhaps that first feeling that you just belong.
Or the thrill of when you first met.
Whatever it might be,
I won’t ever forget you,
Even though you are forgetting me.
