You

You

A Poem by Amber

Not you,

I swear…

He isn’t you so I don’t care…

I want some freedom from your capturing gaze…

I’m sorry, and I mean what I say..

What do you expect from me..

I’ve been so lonely…

I thought maybe while you were away…

I’d find someone who wouldn’t forget my name..

But you know…by now,

Nothing works out..

He barely spoke a word as I danced with him on the floor..

Whole time I was wishing it was you in my arms…

But no, you don’t wonder until I push you too far..

And this escape has failed…

Cause I’ve fallen so hard..

One boy told me my eyes were so pretty…

We talked a few times, but things felt so silly..

I told him I wasn’t his type of girl,

Because you were the guy that meant more than the world..

So when I see you, I feel so bad,

Betraying you behind your back..

When really you see me as a nothing,

But I love you, it is a fact..
