My Friend

My Friend

A Poem by The Masked Crusader
"

I wrote this for a friend in either 1997 or 1998, I can't quite remember. The subject was a pen-pal whom I met online. We became fast friends, but we never met, and have since parted ways.

"
When others leave, my friend comes in.
She shows the way to be a friend.
She speaks as though from a dream,
her face, a shadow, yet unseen.
My love for her grows day by day,
How come others can't be that way?
If worldly life were as my friend
all worldly wickedness would end.
And Satan would ne'er have power to
rule over the hearts of me and you.
And Christ would say as Satan went,
"Well done, thou faithful servant!"

Sad that you parted ways with this special friend. When I first read it not knowing it was about a pen pal I actually thought it could be a spiritual friend (like a guardian angel or something) - I like the ending :)
