Two Poems

Two Poems

A Poem by Benjamin Seymour

1. Love is for…

Love is for the innocent and the naïve to believe in

Love is for the people who have no troubles to claim some

Love is for the young and the foolish to cherish

Love is for the needy and the weak to rely upon

Love is for the bold and the brave to seize upon

Love is for the compromisers and the arguers to exalt

Love is for the communists and fascists to propagandise

Love is for the artist and the linguist to personify

Love is for the dancer and the musician to compose

Love is for the writer to extirpate, despoil, shred to ribbons and abandon, shattered in ruins upon typewritten paper

Petty concept, love

2. I am Wax

Wax

I am.

I am Wax

Wax, am I?

Am I?

Wax.

And I’m not sorry about it.

The first poem is true except for the last line which is very disagreeable. Problem is people tend to think their perceptions are the same as others. Love is very real to me, to love. Those that forget it tend to not realize it's been forgotten. The second poem I liked a lot, it's simple, the wax could be anything. It represents to me the certainties of who we are, the uncertainies of who we are and how others perceive who we are yet not caring what they think because we are who we are. An interesting paradigm.

I understand the first poem, and it makes me feel like it should be engraved somewhere, like on a metal bookmark, or on a poster...
But the second poem...i'll admit, i don't get at all....sorry lol. It has good flow though...if that means anything.
