Hurricanes and Windmills

Hurricanes and Windmills

A Poem by Benjamin Seymour

Sing me a song about hurricanes and windmills in Holland

Tell me the stories about monsters and heroes and the games we played

When we were younger...

Come sit with me on a cliff by the beach

And let us listen to the waves

Doesn’t matter what else is going on in the world

We’ve got our mind on other things...

And I said that life gets better all the time

And I sometimes wonder if laughter has become a crime

As people could smile more often

And they don’t seem to see what they have.

Sing me a song about hurricanes and windmills in Holland

Tell me the story about the boy who meets the girl in Amsterdam

And falls hopelessly in love...

And I said that life gets better all the time

And I sometimes wonder if laughter has become a crime

As people could smile more often

Sing me a song about hurricanes and windmills in Holland

Tell me the stories about the games we played when we were younger...
