Searching For A Light

Searching For A Light

A Poem by Benjamin Seymour

Is it a shock to see this sunset

And the canopy of stars?

Now we've overcome the mass hysteria

Of the opening bars

And if the Harlequin's Mannequin

Added two and two for four

Could it be more simple to make five

Or possibly even more?

Does the echo of the reverb

Ache inside your head?

Or maybe you're lost in a daydream

Talking to yourself instead

And if by the waters still you cannot keep your calm

Would it be such a shame

Were you to write a pointless love letter

To a man with no name?

I talk about it all the time

Just love and strife in the same dream

I think about you far too much

You mean everything to me

Well, I'm searching for a light

To guide me on my way

And if I find it then I'll know I'm right

But maybe it's just

Another sunset in the rain
