Believe in Fate

Believe in Fate

A Poem by Mary

Remember a time I asked
  "Do you believe in fate?"
This unexpected encounter
  between the two of us.

Not knowing the road ahead,
asking "Why you and why me?"
So different, yet so alike
  drowning in our blindness.

Revealing stories of our love
for the ones that we hold dear.
We've shared a common pain
felt only through a broken heart.

In silence, you continue on
  enduring hurtful emotions.
While here, I try to understand
a love that begins to fall apart.

I ask that fate bestows the strength
to carry us through this time.
To show the truth before your eyes
  of your immeasurable worth.

Yes, I do believe in fate
and why our paths have crossed.
A part of you remains with me
  while the rest remains unearthed.
