The First Hints of WinterA Poem by Mary Jo. ClareThis poem is about the first hints of winter. From the bare trees to the cold weather, winter settles in a not so subtle way. Allow yourself to picture the imagery within this poem. Enjoy! The fast winds on a bitterly cold day Paint my imagination of warm ducks on a crystal clear bay My face grows dry from the numbing weather While I watch the snow fall as lightly as feathers The frightened deer gallops across the hill Observed by a squirrel shivering with chills The trees grow naked deprived of their colorful leaves While its lonesome branches begin to grieve The frozen lakes make the scene all the more bitter Aided by the shriveled flowers thus showcasing the first hints of winter
