A Mind That Never Sleeps

A Mind That Never Sleeps

A Poem by Mary Jo. Clare
"

It is very common to show minimal expressions when thinking about a million things. This poem is about this very problem that shows up on a day to day basis.

"

I sit and stare

Accompanied by my emotionless mask

that covers my feelings and hides my expressions

A job well done

Meanwhile, thoughts brew in my head

Imagining unspoken conversations

Laying out all possibilities and probabilities

Drawing inferences from already explained conclusions

No limits

No restrictions

A mind that never sleeps

Ah, more times than I'd like to admit,Mary Jo...my mind gets all sorts of exercise; jumpin' to conclusions, castin' aspersions, dodgin' responsibility, chasin' the dragon...and I can't shut my brain off. I am here till 3 or 4 a.m., tryin' to quiet my brain; it never stops.
An example:I wrote a book, and in it the protagonist sees his wife hugging a friend, trying to comfort him.
The guy becomes enraged, and he goes to a bar and leaves with a woman. He is unfaithful to his wife with her. The woman meant nothing to him, but he did great damage to his marriage, and hurt his innocent wife.
This is what happens when you let your imagination gets the best of you.
