Chapter Eleven

“I’m still in control…” Benjamin’s voice came but I concentrated on the pain of Jacob pulling the knife out.

“Drink.” He ordered angrily with his wrist on my mouth. I opened my mouth slightly and some of his blood went into me. He pulled his wrist away after a few seconds.

“She needs sleep.” Jacob managed through his anger.

“Will she change?” Daddy asked.

“I’m not sure.” Jacob told him as he carried me upstairs. “Sleep.” He ordered when he put me in my bed.

“I need you.” I whispered late that night as I crawled into bed with Granny Lee.

“You need Jacob.” She shook her head and gently helped me up.

“He’s mad at me.” I begged her coughing painfully.

“He’ll be worse if you don’t go to him.” She promised helping me into his room but Jacob was up and he immediately took me into his arms.

“I was waiting. I knew you’d be weak tonight.” He explained helping me into the bed.

“I’m sorry.” I whispered.

“Just rest.” He requested kissing my head. I nodded and tried to move into his chest but my wound hurt when I did and I had to move back to my back while coughing like crazy. He pulled me up some and moved my head up before just keeping his hand on my head. I could feel that he knew what was wrong with me but he didn’t tell me so I just tried to sleep.

“What’s happening with her?” Dad’s voice floated in from outside and I reached over to find that Jacob was gone. I couldn’t think long though because Benjamin was taking advantage of my weakness and fighting with me.

“Leave her alone.” I heard Granny Lee saying and surprisingly Benjamin just left.

“How?” I managed and Jacob quickly ran back in and held me tight knowing the voice easily.

“Your Granny Lee is part witch.” Dad told me, “That means that they have to listen to her and can’t get her.”

“Will you sleep now?” Jacob asked, “Ms. Lee will be…”

“I can’t order them away too often. The more I order them the more likely they are to fight through my defenses… leaving everybody in this pack in danger. I just did it that time because I knew Anabelle Lee was too weak to fight him without you.”

“I’ll fast tomorrow.” I promised them before turning to Jacob. “Can I go home now?”

“Not until you are healed.” He whispered cutting his wrist again.

“The doctor…” Dad started but I saw Granny Lee motion for Jacob to continue.

“She’ll be too weak the rest of the night without it.” Granny Lee explained and I felt Jacob’s wrist on my mouth again but I fought against taking anymore of his blood.

“Drink… please…” Jacob whispered and I slowly let my mouth open. “Thank you.” He smiled a little before kissing me ever so softly.

“I love you.” I whispered painfully.

“I love you too.” He promised.

“What time is it?” I stressed and Granny Lee smiled letting me know that she knew exactly what I was after.

“12:30 a.m.” Granny Lee whispered and then I felt my phone vibrate. Jacob pulled it out of my pocket though and read it.

“What’s the date and time important for?”

“It’s not.” Granny Lee promised him pointedly and he nodded before just wrapping his arms around me again.

“We’ll talk in the morning.” He promised me when I started to talk.

“Lexi and Eli.” I told him and he nodded getting his phone out and calling them to let them know where we were.

“He possessed her?” Pearl’s voice was the first thing I heard when we walked in the next afternoon, well, after Jacob walked in. He wasn’t letting me walk or put any strain on my wound or any part of my body. He hadn’t even let me pick up my water bottle when I’d woken up instead he’d insisted on putting it to my lips.

“They’re home.” Elliot said tiredly and I knew they’d been discussing what to do about my obvious attachment to Benjamin.

“No…” Jacob shook his head at me, “Your wound isn’t healed. You will…”

“Lay down on the couch so that I know what everybody is saying.” I finished for him.

“No.” He argued.

“If you don’t lay me down on that couch in there I’m just going to walk myself down the stairs.” I warned him and he cursed.

“Ana…” he finally managed. “Please just lay down…”

“I’m going to have to be around you and…” I trailed off as the pain got to be too much.

“You’re going to bed.” Jacob ordered carrying me upstairs and I didn’t say anything trying to get in control of my pain. He left right after putting me in bed and as soon as I’d gotten in control I forced myself up.
