Face the Truth

Chapter Eight

It was a month later and I’d still refused to discuss anything with anybody. Tyler had set me up with a therapist that was also a witch but instead of talking I just sat in her office. That’s where I was then.

“I know you get my thoughts.” I told her and she nodded. “So what should I do?” I knew that I couldn’t keep my thoughts silent during these meetings and that she’d probably gotten more than she would’ve with me talking by me not talking.

“Stop avoiding your problems. You need to discuss with Jacob what his actions bring up in you. You need to visit your old pack and face everybody especially Andrew. You need to spend even more time with Lisa, Alena, Pearl, and Lexi. You need to live.” I’d spent all the free time I had with those four and Jacob had turned into what everybody called ‘normal’ Jacob. That was probably why we hadn’t talked because his new behavior was worse than the sentence had been.

“How?”

“Simple start by talking with Jacob. If he really is your imprint than you’re stuck with him forever and he’ll understand and try. It might not be perfect, nothing is, but it will be better.”

“Fine.” I whispered getting up and leaving. It was Jacob like always that was waiting for me when I got out. “I talked to Adrian today.” I started and I saw his face flash over to me as I actually tried to start the first conversation since his sentence. He’d tried many times to talk to me but I had just shook my head or made up an excuse and left.

“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked in the car.

“A part of it…” I managed slowly.

“You don’t have to be scared Ana I’m here to protect you.”

“I just think… it will make you upset.”

“If you need to talk about it than I’ll handle whatever you throw at me.”

“It’s just… I have so many bad people in my background…” I started slowly but I saw his face slowly gaining comprehension.

“I can try, Ana. I am trying.” He begged me to believe him.

“I know and it’s not fair to you that I’m lumping your behavior in with everybody else’s… you haven’t been anything but good to me.” I admitted sadly.

“You’ve had things happen, Ana, that most people don’t even dream about in their worst nightmares.” He sighed but smiled when I moved over into his open side. His hand dropped from it’s normal spot on the seats to wrap tightly around me. “Can we begin again?”

“After you finally tell me what we are.” I nodded.

“I’ve been doing research…” he sighed, “It seems that some vampires back close to the original days… they imprinted just like werewolves. Elliot and I have come to the conclusion that the imprint ability that you kept from your werewolf father probably just set that off in me and we imprinted.” I smiled a little at that and just put my head in his chest.

“I’ve missed you.” I whispered and he smiled parking.

“You know that with as obnoxiously nosy as these people are we…”

“…will just bypass them.” I begged and he smiled.

“We’ll just bypass them.” He agreed and I smiled as he picked me up and went in through his window.

“Stay in here tonight.” Jacob whispered temptingly in my ear after a day of just talking and him holding me. I shook my head though.

“Lexi, won’t let me spend any time with you tomorrow if I do.” I explained and he was all smiles again.

“Let her… let all your friends try.” He whispered nibbling on my ear now.

“I can’t we both know what will happen if I stay in here and…” I trailed off knowing that Jacob would be mad if I told him.

“And…?” He asked tensely knowing that I’d carefully hidden part of my last few weeks from him.

“Shia and Ilia visit me during the night.” I whispered thoughtfully leaving Benjamin out of it but he tensed and held me closer.

“Shia lived with us for a little bit while she was vampire… she was fighting Benjamin and Ilia and she didn’t want him that close to you. I tried to stop her from returning to the pack when she lost but…” He trailed off and just held me close.

“He wants the full set.” I whispered, “But it’s not your fault he found me. A doppelganger can…” I trailed off feeling the pull. “Shia is here.” I whispered starting to get up but he held me to him. “Jake…” I moaned the pain of fighting her call clear in my voice, “She’s just getting louder…” I trailed off when Shia walked in.

“I should have known.” She smiled, “You never fight my call. You fight Ilia and even Benjamin’s but not mine.” She sounded proud.

“I will save you.” I promised her.

“Same night different setting then.” She shrugged, “Oh my line is… ‘I don’t want to be saved’.” I felt myself fading into the forced sleep and knew Benjamin was coming.

“Jake…” I begged painfully fighting with everything I had.

“Wait until she weakens again…” I heard Benjamin saying, “We missed our margin of time.” Suddenly all the pulls were gone and I was just left clinging to Jacob.
