Chapter Five

“Bell… these are my best friends, Pearl and Lisa.” Alena told me at school.

“Are you settling in?” Tyler asked but I saw Shia and just started over to her.

“Anabelle…” Shia smiled pulling me into a hug and I just stayed there at least until I remembered why I’d stopped hugging people it was the only thing I remembered of her. She’d hugged me before leaving forever without a word. “Come… we’ll talk.” She begged and so I nodded following her out of the school and to her car where Ilia was waiting.

“If you changed Elliot and Jacob…” I started fighting against the warning that Jacob had given me about them after all they were family and family were the ones that didn’t hurt you.

“I was changed during the 12th century.” Ilia said and then she started telling me her story but I looked out the window and got a bad feeling. It wasn’t long into the story that they blindfolded me.

“Where are we?” I asked after they’d led me down a rough path and into a house where they’d un-blindfold-ed me.

“Our home…” Shia told me smiling, “You’re going to become one of us…”

“No…” I begged, “Please…” I whispered when Ilia’s hand rose to slap me only I had a feeling that a vampire slap would be worse than even Andrew’s hits.

“You’re changing.” Ilia ordered.

“Let me talk to my daughter, Ilia.” Shia requested and suddenly it was just the two of us, “I don’t want to do this to you, Anabelle… I loved you.”

“Then let me go. Please… Granny Lee and…” I shut-up when she hit me.

“Your Granny Lee is the w***e that made me leave.” She snapped.

“From what I hear you’re living with the w***e.” I shot right back.

“OOO… I like her…” An evil voice smiled coming in, “Give her time she will come to me willingly. She’s just too innocent…” The man laughed.

“Your…” I trailed off.

“Yes I’m Benjamin.” The evil man laughed and I shivered.

“Granny Lee warned me about you.” I warned. I’d been frightened out of doing wrong by stories of him.

“One lie… that’s all it will take now.” Benjamin warned and I knew he wanted me to become his slave. I stayed silent and only thought of Daddy and Granny the next two days and then I switched to Jacob knowing that he’d save me from Benjamin. He wanted me to stay innocent. I fasted knowing that no food would weaken his hold on me and every third sunset I drank water.
