HELLO

A Chapter by Mary Greenwell

Chapter Four

“Let’s go back upstairs.” I whispered letting him know that I wouldn’t force the issue.

“Hi I’m Alena.” A peppy girl smiled from Elliot’s arms.

“I’m Anabelle Lee.” I told her holding my hand out but she immediately wrapped me in a hug. I pulled away quickly, “Sorry, I don’t like hugs.” I shook my head.

“This must be the wolf…” A new vampire walked in.

“No she’s human.” Jacob spoke up, “Ana this is Lexi.”

“Jacob, I think that’s the nicest you’ve ever talked to me.” Lexi laughed, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Anabelle.”

“You too.” I whispered nervously.

“Come it’s getting late.” She smiled taking my hand, “We’ll find you room in my… our… dresser and closet.” I smiled at the welcoming change from ‘hers’ to ‘ours’.

“Are you two coming?” Elliot’s voice came through the door the next morning. I’d been letting Lexi play dress up on me for hours.

“This.” She declared, “This is perfect for your first day.” She leaned down to whisper in my ear, “… and it will make Jacob crazy.”

“I don’t know what you’re talk…” I trailed off at her laugh.

“Honey… you can’t even hide your smile… you’re already good for Jacob though.”

“I don’t…”

“It will be our secret.” She promised as we walked out.

“Have fun…” Jacob trailed off and I turned to him only to find his eyes on my outfit and him shirtless, “… in school.” He finished looking away while I tried to make my blush fade.

“Don’t you have to go to school?”

“No I work on the… I’m part of the police.”

“Be careful.” I requested when Lexi pulled on me to get me to leave.

“Yep…” He shrugged and I turned to leave.
