Pack LifeA Chapter by Mary GreenwellChapter One “Your father wants to see you.” My great-grandma, Granny Lee, told me interrupting my movie. She’d helped Dad take care of me ever since my human mother had given up her custody to Dad. “I’ll be back.” I promised kissing my boyfriend. “I’ve got to head upstairs for the meeting anyway.” He shook his head pulling me up with him. “Andrew.” Dad nodded towards him. “Wait out here.” He ordered before leading me into his office. I immediately recognized that the room was full of people I’d never met before. The next thing I recognized was the second Alpha in the room. “Annabelle Lee this is Tyler from the Mystic Falls pack.” Every supernatural creature in the United States knew about mystic falls. It was home to more supernatural beings than any other town in the world. It’d been founded by a witch, a vampire, and a werewolf and most of the time they coexisted perfectly with each other and the humans… it was the Utopia of towns. “I have agreed to let you bond to Tyler.” Dad explained and I felt panic rise in my chest. “Not bond…” Tyler spoke up, “You will live in our town and learn to co-exist with humans and other supernatural.” “Not a bond?” I questioned. “Mystic Falls believes only in ‘love bonds’.” Dad explained and I smiled. “May I go tell Andrew?” I asked and Dad nodded. “I wish she’d let that boy go… He’s bad news… of course that’s partly why I suggested…” I closed the door quietly. I knew that Andrew was a ‘bad wolf’ it’s partly why I liked him. I also knew how Daddy felt. “What did he want?” Andrew asked angrily when I moved to sit in a chair instead of kissing him. “I’m moving to Virginia.” I smiled and suddenly I felt blood trickling down my face. “What was that for?” I whispered grabbing a napkin to stick on my lip. “Agreeing to bond.” He growled. “I’m not bonding!!” I yelled, “I’m moving and even if I did bond it wouldn’t be any of your business!!” he hit me again but before he could strike a third time Dad had him by the arm. “Take him to prison.” Dad growled at one of the guards, “Go to Granny Lee and let her clean you up.” I nodded and leaned on Tyler as he helped me up. “I’ve got you.” Tyler promised picking me up when I stumbled and carrying me to the kitchen. © 2013 Mary GreenwellReviews
