Chapter Twelve

“Alex!!!” Bell yelled running over to me and wrapping me in her arms, “Mom and Dad told me. Eli had told me that you and Andrew weren’t supposed to be together but not anything else. I thought this would just mean you being reincarnated again.”

“It’s okay.” I whispered, “We did it. Andy has forgotten me and will get his mate.” I turned to Clarence, “Right?”

“Right.” He promised softly.

“I would like to go home then. To Mom and Dad’s.” I corrected when they all looked at me worriedly.

“I will take you.” Clarence promised, “Please tell Elliot to meet me in your parents kitchen this evening.” He directed to Bell.

“Yes your highness.” She whispered bowing.

“What’s with all this your highness and rule and country crap?!” I snapped frustrated and emotional.

“I’ll explain tomorrow.” Clarence promised softly while his father just looked at me with shock. “For now let’s just get you home and in bed.” He turned back to his father, “Meet me in the kitchen with Elliot tonight.”

“So now everybody has changed their names?” His father questioned.

“Not now.” Clarence ordered and I looked up at him. “Later.” He promised and slipped me into a buggy.

“When did this get here?” I whispered.

“I created it.” Clarence said simply. “You will learn more about your powers now.”

“She was gaining powers again?” Eli questioned suddenly with us.

“She knew she was a witch.” Clarence nodded but looked warningly at Eli.

“I’ve kept an eye on both of them just as you instructed. There was never any…”

“We only spoke about it in the bedroom.” Bell whispered. “Mom explained it to us one night when she caught us changing the colors of our bedroom walls.” I smiled a little at that. “King?” She whispered, “Would you mind too much if I rode with you?”

“No. Alex will need you.” He nodded, “And please I have always just been Clarence to you. You are my bride’s twin, my sister, family. Not a citizen.” She nodded and Clarence got down and helped her into the buggy.

“The house?” Eli questioned.

“Yes. We’ll have the meeting as soon as I put Alex to bed.” Clarence promised and I just put my head on Bell’s shoulder.

“Who else is there?” Bell whispered as Clarence drove the team.

“Just Elizabeth and Simon. They were put here as your guard. Elliot is here because it is painful for mates to be apart especially after a reversed ceremony. Your parents are here because you would both be reborn until the ceremony between Alex and myself was done.” Clarence explained calmly.

“Was this our first ceremony?” I whispered.

“No.” Clarence shook his head, “We had redone our ceremony many times before you died. Your death canceled the others though.” He told me, “Your death just caused Elliot’s and Bell’s to reverse. It was impossible for her to love any other.” He added, “You on the other hand… well you were given your heart back at your death.”

“So I was able to give it away to another.” I whispered.

“Yes.” He answered through tight lips.

“I’m sorry.” I promised.

“It’s fixed now. I now have your heart again.” He smiled this time looking down at me, “Or will soon.”

“What do you mean?”

“The ceremony will finish tonight. Our DNA is changing as we speak and by morning it will finish.”

“Andy isn’t the only one who will forget is he?” I whispered.

“You will never forget him. You will have your memories. Your memories are protected but you will forget your love for him.”

“And fall for you?” I whispered.

“No.” He shook his head. “I will hold your heart and will be the only one you will one day be able to love but you will still have to open your heart and fall in love just like you had to when we first met all those years ago.”

“How old are you?” I whispered.

“There have been twenty-six planets taken by black holes since I was born.” He told me.

“I don’t know what that means.”

“It would be about…” He trailed off seeming to think. “Well in this planets time it takes one hundred centuries for a black hole to swallow a planet.”

“So you are twenty one hundred centuries old?” I whispered looking at his face.

“Yes. Around that.” He nodded, “I am immortal.” He reminded me.

“You realize that that would be during something BC?”

“For this planet yes. It is still new.” He smiled, “Our planet is in year 54 billion and 2.”

“Okay…” I shook my head, “I think I’m officially overwhelmed.” He smiled some more stopping the buggy in front of the house.

“Let me get you to bed.” He whispered.

“Will you be in here tonight?” I whispered nervously as he carried me into the house and upstairs.

“Sometime. Whenever we finish our meeting.” He nodded and kissed my forehead. “It will be nice to sleep again.”

“Sleep again?”

“Yes. A male doesn’t sleep well without their mate.” He said but I sensed there was more.

“What?” I sighed.

“It is impossible for a mate to sleep if their mate is with another person of the opposite gender.” Mom whispered softly. “Your highness.” She smiled some and chuckled before saying. “Clarence, the men are downstairs awaiting your orders.”

“Get Bell to stay with Alex until I get back.” Clarence told her.

“Yes your majesty.” She said all serious now. “Clarence?” She started when he turned to leave.

“Yes Judith?” He sighed.

“Is she okay now? I know the oath was calling on the…”

“We performed the ceremony. She will be okay.” He promised her, “Please get Bell to stay here.”

“I’m here.” Bell promised, “Eli told me you wouldn’t want to leave her here alone right now.”

“He’s right.” Clarence nodded. “Thank you Bell.” He promised before bending down to look at me as I laid on the covers. “Sleep well.” He whispered.

“I’ll try.” I promised.
