Chapter Fifteen

“Where’s Dad?” Surya asked when I walked into the house. I’d gone to the Mid-Wife god and I could not help but smile.

“He should be home soon.” I promised, “He went to…”

“I’ve never seen such a line at the I-hops.” Cupid’s voice came from the bedroom. “Alena?” Cupid asked.

“In the kitchen!” He appeared in the kitchen at that and handed all the food to Surya and Alice.

“Aren’t you supposed to be resting?” He asked pointedly and I pulled him out of the room.

“I went to see Mid-Wife.”

“And?” He asked with a smile already on his face.

“We’re going to have a little girl. She won’t be as powerful as Surya either.” I smiled eagerly. His hold tightened and he kissed me, “I want my food.” I ordered warningly to everybody in the house.

“Why don’t we just walk?” Cupid suggested when I started to disappear. I frowned but nodded taking his hand.

“What’s wrong?” Surya asked.

“Nothing… absolutely nothing.” I smiled and Cupid kissed me softly.

“You’re going to have a baby sister.” Cupid told him and Surya was immediately hugging me.

“If she’s not allowed on…”

“She’ll be less powerful than you.” Cupid assured him, “She’ll be here with us.”

“Good.” Surya nodded.

“I love you, son.” I promised kissing his forehead.

“Love you too, Mom.”

“Where are my pancakes?” I asked and Cupid put my food right in front of me. “Thank you.” I smiled before trying to put syrup on them. Everybody laughed when it landed on Cupid’s hair.

“Here’s your syrup.” He smiled.

“I thought that with less power… I’d get to use…” I could not talk as I felt my body phase.

“She has more werewolf than god it looks like.” Cupid laughed when I came back and held me close.

“You know Surya hasn’t phased yet.” I whispered worriedly.

“We talked about it last night.” Cupid told me but did not elaborate.

“Surya!” I called.

“You promised.” Surya turned to Cupid.

“He isn’t telling me anything about the werewolf in you!” I yelled angrily and felt myself phase.

“Your sister has a lot of the werewolf gene.” Cupid explained to Surya as I tried to phase back.

“Explain.” I ordered Surya, “Why are you hiding things?”

“It will worry Alice if I let her know that my werewolf gene is active… I thought it wouldn’t be until I…”

“You’re a male.” Cupid told him, “Yours is triggered when you become a man.”

“I want you in bed.” I ordered.

“Alena…” Cupid started but I growled at him, “Surya go to bed and rest for the day… unless you want a wolf as a mom.” I phased back human as I realized Cupid was backing me, “Alena, you should go to bed too.”

“No.” I shook my head.

“There’s your stubborn gene.” Cupid turned to Surya who had the same angry, stubborn stance as me only you could see his pain.

“Surya, I’ll entertain Alice while you rest.” I promised, “We’ll go baby shopping.”

“Why can’t we use the stuff in Surya’s nursery?” Cupid asked.

“You still have a nursery set up for me?” Surya asked emotion in his voice and on his face.

“Your mother kept trying to bring you home just like she promised you she would our first visit.” Cupid explained when I turned my face into his chest to hide my tears.

“Mom?” Surya whispered, “You did bring me home.” He promised, “And you brought my love with us.” He left then and Cupid just put me in bed.

“I’ll entertain our daughter.” Cupid promised before kissing my head and leaving.

“You’re going through a pregnancy in which your baby has no control over changing.” Angel told me with a sick smile on her face.

“But she hasn’t had her wedding.” I whispered painfully.

“She must have a soul bond already.” Deshaun explained, “She will disappear to that bond when she’s born and Cupid will have to follow her and bring her bond up.” Cupid squeezed my hand and I turned to him.

“It will all be okay.” He promised.

“I refuse to take a baby from a family. Nobody will go through what we did.”

“We’ll figure it out when we know her soul bond.” He whispered kissing me before pushing me over some and laying down with me. “It’s late.” He told his parents pointedly.

“I’m going to check on Surya before bed.” I whispered trying to get up.

“I’ll check on him. You sleep.” He ordered and since I was too weak to fight… I just laid back down. “He’s fine.” Surya promised, “He told Alice what was happening and they are both fine.” I nodded and rolled over into him.

It was the third trimester that Cupid started to let me move around. “Surya…” I smiled when I walked into the kitchen one morning.

“You’re better in time for our wedding.” Alice smiled.

“From what Bryn tells me… you’ll have a baby sister before this wedding happens.” I laughed and Cupid walked in kissing me softly before setting waffles on the table. “Thank you.” I smiled up at him.

“Any…” the rest of his word was cut off by my scream.

“Ba… baby.” I forced and Cupid had me in bed within a second.

“She’s early.” Angel stated the obvious as her and Mid-Wife walked in. Everybody was having to scream over the storm outside though.

“She’s just excited to see the world.” Cupid promised me.

“She’s gone.” I whispered as the pain stopped and my stomach shrank in front of everybody’s eyes.

“I’m going.” Cupid promised and soon he was back with two babies. A newborn, my baby girl, and a toddler that had obviously been beat. “I figured you’d be okay raising him.” Cupid whispered as I took my baby.

“Hi baby girl.” I smiled as I looked up at Cupid and the bright rainbow right behind him.

“Her name…?” Mid-Wife requested.

“Altheda Aleka.” Cupid told her and I sighed relieved. He’d been wanting to name her after his mother and it’d been our biggest fight yet.

“I love you.” I promised him.

“I love you too and just so you know you will always be above my mother.” He whispered and I smiled realizing that he was telling the truth. I did not have to fight with his mother. She just wanted his attention again but I already had it forever.
