Chapter Seven

“Alena?” Angel whispered and I forced my eyes open. “Cupid!” She snapped when she saw my birth mark.

“What?” He asked and I held my hand out painfully for him. He moved quickly to my side of the bed and held me. I was lying on his side so that I could smell his scent constantly.

“She’s a werewolf.” Angel put out and I felt Cupid tense.

“She’s changing isn’t she?” He managed to whisper.

“Yes… she’s changing.” Deshaun nodded.

“You knew!!” Cupid yelled and I heard a crash of lightening.

“Alena?” Deshaun asked me and I forced my eyes open again, “Do you want to sleep now or later?”

“Both.” Cupid spoke my thoughts for me so I just closed my eyes listening to the storm my husband had created. “Alena?” He whispered a few weeks later and I looked around to find that I’d finally phased.

“I feel better.” I whispered worriedly. He’d been so moody lately that I was always extra careful about what I said. He pulled me up into his arms though and kissed me. “The storm stopped.” I smiled when he pulled away.

“I’m sorry, Alena. I’ve been working on my temper for centuries.” He promised.

“No it makes me happy to see that you’re not perfect.” I smiled happily. “Where’s Bryn?”

“We sent her back to Earth until you say which god she’d be happiest with.”

“Well she’s always loved traveling…”

“Brendon.” Cupid nodded. Brendon was in charge of looking after all the humans.

“She wants somebody to settle down with and have children one day.”

“Adonis.”

“Which is more important, Cupid?” I whispered.

“Children…” He said after a few minutes but by his face I could see that it was nerves that took him so long. We had not talked about kids yet and now I was finding out just how important they were to him.

“Adonis would be perfect for her then.” I whispered and he nodded understanding that I was not ready to have that talk. He kissed me softly and then took his leave. I phased back to wolf and just ran. I’d always enjoyed running and dancing and having fun… Bryn had in a way kept me child-like.
