Chapter fiftyA Chapter by Mary GreenwellChapter 50 At the end of the month I went back to training and I didn’t think twice about letting it occupy all of my time except for the days I set aside for Cole’s call. He’d call about once a week and it usually ended by one of us hanging up on the other but neither of us told anybody how bad our relationship was. “I can’t believe you have a girl there!!!!” I yelled at him about five months in. “You spend every second of your free time with Booth and I’m not allowed to have a girl with me?!” he yelled right back. “Not in your hotel room!!!!!!!!” I screamed, “Booth never comes into the house!!!!!! Out of respect to you I don’t let any man besides family into this house!!!!!!!!” I yelled. “What about Ben?!?!” he yelled right back. “Family!!!!!!” I screamed, “Which you’d know if you cared to check on the family?!?!?! He imprinted on Kali!!!!!!!!” “I do check on the family!!!!!!” he screamed back, “I check on them every night!!!!!!!!!” “So you call them and let women into your hotel room but you won’t call me?!?!” “You’re busy with Booth!!!!!!!!!” “Maybe you should just go be busy with that s**t in your room!!!!!!! I’ll be busy with Booth!!!!!!!!!! You can never come back and we’ll both be happier!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I screamed and hung up on him. Then I felt the tears start to fall. I kind of expected him to shimmer in that night I mean he usually called back when I hung up on him but I didn’t even get a call. I didn’t bother forcing myself out of bed for school the next morning I wasn’t going to be able to train with as upset as I was anyway. “Why weren’t you…?”Kalila trailed off seeing the dried tears and my training outfit on still from the day before where Cole had called as soon as I walked in. “What happened?” she whispered. “We broke up.” I whispered emotionlessly. I had no more emotions. “That’s just a rumor.” She shook her head. “Not anymore.” “Why didn’t you tell me you two were having problems?” “Cole said it didn’t change things he couldn’t come home.” I shook my head still emotionless, “Our relationship wasn’t important enough to save. Even now he’s not here. He replaced me when he left for a girl that could give him everything.” “He was cheating?” she asked shocked. “There was a girl in his hotel room.” I shrugged. “You guys have been having serious problems.” She whispered. “We rarely had a conversation without fighting.” I whispered less emotionless but still there was hardly any emotion and Kalila’s face dawned comprehension realizing that I didn’t have emotions anymore. I was numb. “I’ll be at school tomorrow. This conversation is banned to you and everybody else. He never existed… please.” I finished begging. “Okay I’ll tell them.” She nodded. “Are you sure you don’t want me to stay with you?” “Positive I just want to be alone.” I nodded getting up, “I’m going to take a shower.” I told her making it obvious that she was supposed to leave now. I walked into the bathroom and then took a shower crawling back into bed when I was done. “Hey…” Sara smiled when I walked into school the next day the hallway was completely silent as everybody stared at me. “Hey.” I nodded emotionless and she nodded so I knew Kalila had warned her too that I’d become numb at least around everybody. There was a reason I’d made her go home and turned down her invitation to stay with me I wasn’t numb I was dying. I went to classes with Sara and then ran to the gym needing to train. “Hey Lily,” Booth smiled at me but I didn’t say anything just stood on the mat and nodded, “No you know good and well we aren’t fighting when you are hiding so many feelings.” “I’m not hiding any feelings I’m fine.” I shook my head. “Sit down and talk to me Lily.” He whispered gesturing and I sat knowing he wasn’t going to fight me. “Now tell me what happened Lily.” “No if we aren’t fighting I’m leaving.” I said getting up and running out of the room and saying the spell before he could catch me. I ended up in my house but Jonathon was there. © 2013 Mary Greenwell
