Chapter forty-sevenA Chapter by Mary GreenwellChapter 47 I woke up in Cole’s and my new house. “What… happened?” I whispered disoriented and it was hard to talk really hard. “How long had it been since you actually hunted?” Came Cole’s angry voice across the room and I knew he was fighting his demon side. “I told you Cole control the anger around her right now or you go outside.” A voice said. It was a woman’s voice that I’d never heard and I tried to turn towards it but everything hurt so bad I felt like crying. “Don’t try to move honey. I’m Cole’s mom, Lucinda.” His dad hadn’t let her come to the wedding. “Lucinda…” I greeted her with a smile the first thing that hadn’t hurt but then I looked at Cole again and it was the most painful thing in the world. Everybody could tell too. “Cole, come on we’ll hunt.” Ethan’s voice came. “Yeah we’ll come.” Austin, Booth, and… “Ben?” I asked surprised but I smiled happily. Austin, Booth, and Ethan pulled Cole out of the room and Ben came over to me and I tried to pretend like this wasn’t harder than seeing his angry eyes on me but it was a lot harder. “What are you doing here?” I asked talking becoming easier but I still couldn’t move and it was ticking me off that nobody would explain any of this to me. “I heard somebody went and got themselves hurt.” “So you get to know who did this to me but I don’t get to?” I asked thoroughly ticked off now, “I want to kill them.” “You did this to yourself, Lily. Why do you think Cole is so ticked? He didn’t see you doing it.” Ben explained softly, “You overdid it and then you apparently weren’t even hunting?” everybody looked curious at that one because I had more hunting trips than anyone so they felt reassured. “I might have been using a few hunting trips to get my out of control powers under control.” I whispered looking at the floor. “How many is a few?” Mom asked tensely and I knew everybody was about to be as ticked as Cole and Cole was about to storm back in because he was reading minds. I’d just realized fighting hadn’t become my only obsession I’d been obsessing over everything. I felt a tear fall as I realized what was really wrong with Cole. “How close did I come?” I whispered. “What do you mean?” Kalila asked nervously. “You know exactly what I mean!!” I yelled. I was ticked. It was hard after thinking you were invincible to sit here after being so close to death that nobody would even tell you when they wanted you to realize you weren’t invincible. “How close did I get to killing myself?!” I screamed the tears flowing but I felt a familiar shimmer before the arms surrounded me he pulled away when I flinched at the hold though and just let the shimmer surround me. “If Cole had been a second later then you’d be dead.” Dad whispered as he held onto Mom and Kalila, and Leo held Piper. Everybody looked at Cole as his shimmer suddenly didn’t surround me and he left. “Somebody find him.” I said desperately, “Please his demon half is going to be strong right now.” I begged looking right at Lucinda she knew how strong it could be and she knew how to handle it best. “I’ll get him under control. He’s never almost lost you to death though.” She whispered warning me this time was completely different so I looked to Booth and he followed her. “Are you okay, Lily?” Ben asked. “No dang-it!!!!!!!” I yelled, “I almost died!!!! I’m the strongest most powerful vampire in history and I almost died!!!!!!!!! I can’t die!!!!!!!” “The invincibility thing she’s held her whole immortal life has to end.” Kalila whispered pulling away from Dad and moving close to me. Nobody understood what not being invincible meant. Jonathon could still hurt me. He could still do more than just hurt my feelings like I’d convinced myself this had helped him more than it’d helped me or any of them. I would be even more terrified now. “It is okay, Lily all of us have to figure that one out.” Ben laughed. “Oh really… do you have somebody still alive from your human life that wants you dead!!!!!!!!!!” I screamed, “That you’re terrified of!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I finished and then just broke down from the pain that the injuries caused, that the fear caused, that Cole was causing, and that I had caused. “Lily…” Mom tried but I ignored her. I might not be able to move but I could ignore. “Lilybelle Addison, listen to us!” Dad yelled at me but once again I ignored them and it was getting easier. I felt my eyes start to shut and the darkness start to take over. “Cole!!!! I love you!!!!!” I yelled out terrified of what was happening to me before the blackness won. © 2013 Mary Greenwell |
