Chapter forty-oneA Chapter by Mary GreenwellChapter 41 “And he’d probably make as good of one as you two if he was willing to take this from you.” Kalila said walking in. “What are you doing?” I asked her. “I came to see if you were feeling better.” “Yeah I just…” “Got carried away with your obsession again.” “I need to talk to Cole.” I whispered. “I thought you’d say that.” She smiled and held up her phone showing Cole’s number and pressed talk, “Hey Cole come pick up Lily she’s ready to talk.” She hung up without letting him talk but he was already here, “I’ll take my car.” She nodded. “Thanks Kali!” I called. “No problem.” She smiled at me. “I’ll see you in two weeks, Booth.” I told him and both Kalila and Cole looked at me surprised. “Wedding… our comprise was the week before and week after was mine and Cole’s no fighting.” I said in my ‘Nah-Duh’ voice but I smiled at the smile that spread across Cole’s face. “Cole, take us someplace nobody will interrupt.” I smiled happily. “Why?” he asked teasingly. “They always interrupt when I want a good long make out session.” I whined. “I’ll take you home.” He whispered in my ear, “Kalila will tell them I took you someplace else and they’ll look everywhere but in the room.” “Wherever.” I shrugged and giggled when he shimmered us where we were laying down on the bed. “What happened to…?” I started to tease but then he ran his hand down my body just like he had that morning and I curled around him as his lips found mine. “Much better,” He whispered on my neck, “There was too much talk before.” “There’s too much talk now.” I complained tightening my hold on him but then the door slammed open and he rolled away. “It’s the week before the wedding Lily’s moving in with Kalila.” Piper said. “We don’t even sleep.” I protested clinging to Cole. “That’s one of the problems.” Leo nodded. “You don’t have to be in Kalila’s room at all but Lily you are banned from this room and Cole you are banned from Kalila’s.” Piper said laying down the law. “I changed my mind who needs a big wedding?” I asked, “What’s wrong with just going and getting married tonight?” “No one week.” Cole said after a deep breath, “We can do that. We’ll just spend nights in the living room.” “I might as well spend nights with Kali in our room.” I growled stalking out of the room but he grabbed me and pulled me to him. “I want you to have your perfect wedding. If Piper and Leo insist on us not being allowed to be in the same room without family supervision for a week until then…” he took another breath, “… we’ll survive. We’ve been longer.” “I don’t remember any happy times when we’ve been longer times with supervision for a week.” “You can freeze them for times when I want to kiss you.” “Fine,” I groaned and just went into the living room and sat down pulling him down beside me. The next day I sat through History of Magic for the first full time since the second day. I always convinced Professor Spenser to let me out to train and I saw what Booth was talking about with it being all about us. “They don’t even have half their information right I haven’t had to touch the demon to control it in fifty years.” I complained as we left. “Lily-be…” Cole sighed. “Well it’s true and I don’t even know where I’m going now.” I frowned at his classroom. Demons or, in my case since I hadn’t actually fought a demon alone, anything trying to kill me were easier to control than anything else. “Just go visit Judy and Tristan it will make their day.” Cole smiled kissing me softly. “Do you think I could go watch class?” I suggested. “You’d end up fighting but if you want to train…” he started sighing. “No we had a deal and you’re right if I put myself in temptations way I’ll fight. I’ll go visit Mom and see if there’s any more planning to do. We should be able to get most of it done with two free periods a day for me.” “I don’t have to go to kickboxing either.” “Yes you do and you definitely have to go to this class… Professor Sinister is giving me a very nasty look right now.” I said a cold chill running down my spine. “I love you Lily-be.” Cole laughed. “Love you too. Be careful in this class it doesn’t look safe.” “Relax Lily I’m in it too. I’ll watch after my big brother.” Eli smiled walking up to us. “I feel better already.” I said sarcastically and Sara laughed. “I’ve got to get to class.” Sara told Eli looking at me curiously. “Taking a break for the next two weeks.” I shrugged, “Wedding preparations.” “Meaning everybody finally figured out just how much you’ve…” “Yes.” I interrupted shaking my head. She knew way too much and I didn’t trust the spell she’d cast on herself but I looked at Cole and he just looked confused so I sighed and kissed him as the bell rang relieved that he still didn’t know about my spell casting. “They don’t know about your spell?” Sara asked as I walked into Demons 101 with her. “No they know I’ve been over training and I made a deal with Cole that I’d take a break from training for this week and next so that I could be completely with him.” “Sounds fair,” She nodded, “What happens when he finds out about the spell?” “I get in tons of trouble and hope that it made me strong enough that when he turns into a demon I am still just as strong as him.” “That’s leaning a lot on the spell.” “I know it better work.” I cursed but then when Mr. Knight started at me I curtsied and ran out. I ran straight to the safety of Dad’s office and he turned back to his class. “Hey.” I smiled. “We were starting to think you went to train.” Mom sighed relieved to see me. “No I just got caught up talking with Sara and then almost had a run in with Mr. Knight so I guess you could call that training. Will you forgive me?” “Of course,” Dad laughed. “Okay so you two aren’t going to let me train these two weeks.” I sighed having decided something in History of magic. “Right,” Mom nodded. “And you aren’t going to let Cole and me skip next week to honeymoon.” “Right you are one hundred…” Dad started. “Don’t finish that you haven’t even heard my request there’s no reason for hating me!” I snapped. “Okay what’s your request?” Leo asked walking in. “I can’t stand another class of History of Magic.” I sighed, “You guys might not know it but it was only my third full class and I can’t stand listening to a history teacher preach about me. I learned my lesson Cole and I are powerful our powers are important and we need to use them with discretion and study.” I begged. “What are you trying to do get us to let you quit?” Dad asked. “Yes.” I nodded, “I don’t want three free periods though.” “You aren’t training.” Mom warned. “I wasn’t thinking of that.” I shook my head and took a deep breath unable to believe I was about to request what I was going to, “Do you two need another class?” I whispered and the shock was audible. “Are you asking to teach?” Leo finally managed to get out but we all felt the shimmer and suddenly Cole was in the room. “Professor Sinister is going to kill you.” I whispered. “I needed to be here not there.” He shook his head, “A class really?” “It crossed my mind.” I whispered. “When?” “Booth and I might have talked about me teaching one day.” I looked away not sure how he’d react to me talking to Booth about something like that and not him. “You… talked…” “You really want to teach?” Mom interrupted Cole’s sputtering. “Cole the only thing Booth and I ever talked about me teaching is fighting one day. He told me that it helped get a control on the obsession. That it would be a good job for me. He told me I’d be good at it.” I whispered and everybody could hear the emotion in my voice but nobody but he understood. He wrapped his arms around me knowing how good it had felt to hear I would be good at something other than being a mistress. “What class did you want to teach then?” he asked me softly and everybody relaxed knowing that everything was okay again. “I’m not sure that’s why I thought I could talk to Mom and Dad before I talked to you see if there’d even be a class I’d be good at teaching.” “You’d be good at anything you set your mind too.” Piper said walking in. “It’s time for potions.” She explained smiling, “What’s with the meeting though?” “Lily has decided she wants to try and teach a class.” Mom said and there was pride in her voice. “No way,” Kalila said walking in. “Is this going to turn into a family meeting?” I asked my cheeks burning. Cole turned me in his arms knowing I was embarrassed now for even asking and kissed my head. “Professor Addison…” he whispered in my ear. “It’s still Carlyle.” Leo and Dad warned him and I groaned. “They should have gotten rid of the good hearing when they lost the power.” I groaned. “That’s okay it will be Addison again soon.” Cole promised kissing me. “Okay kissing is now outlawed until the wedding too.” Dad and Leo declared so I held up my hand and froze all of them. “You better kiss me.” I warned Cole. “I would be if you would shut up.” He sighed when I opened my mouth to continue to vent. I closed it quickly in a tight line trying to decide if I was mad over that comment. He just put his lips on mine pulling me closer and I saw absolutely no need to be mad with the way his lips felt on mine. I twisted my hands a little deeper into his hair and the kiss went deeper but then he pulled away. “You better unfreeze them.” He whispered. “We lost our ability to kiss though.” I whined. “I know and they might be finding a way to make themselves resistant to your freeze soon with as annoyed as they are about to be.” He sighed kissing me again and I realized the kisses felt just that much better now that they were forbidden. When he pulled away I flipped my hand and let everybody have motion again. “I’ll go to the library.” Mom nodded. “Why?” I asked. “Power lifting spells.” Dad smiled, “We only have to lift ours some being your parents to overcome yours I bet we’d be back over yours by the end of the week anyway. It took an oddly huge leap usually the parent will always be able to overcome a power like that one. Judy I think if you multiply ours by about five it should work fine.” “Five?!” I yelled, “I had to…” I started but then trailed off realizing I’d made a mistake. “You had to?” Cole asked worriedly. “I had to work one hundred years to get this strong and they can just multiply their powers by five?” I fixed. “You never ran across those spells when you were studying before?” He asked curiously. “No.” I shook my head. “I was careful with what I let Lily study she’s always enjoyed power.” Piper laughed, “I bet right now she’s contemplating those spells.” “I kind of like my new power boost for now.” I shrugged, “Later maybe.” I laughed and they all joined. I felt relieved to be out of that tight spot for now I knew they’d figure out what I’d done soon. I wouldn’t be able to give myself another boost for a while. “Oh and you’ll start teaching the love spells class tomorrow in first study up tonight.” Mom turned to me. “Love spells?” I asked intrigued. “Yes you can spend this period in the library with Cole researching.” Piper nodded and I grabbed Cole running after Mom. I ran right to the spells section and realized I’d made another mistake. I wasn’t supposed to know where the library was yet alone my way around it. “How’d you know where they were?” Mom asked. “Booth made me come in here to study one day. He thinks I’ll be ready to add spells into my fighting soon.” I smiled remembering a training thing that would have me in the library. “He really does think you’ll be a professor one day.” She smiled. “Yeah,” I nodded, “He says we are one of a kind. Our pasts molded us both into the best fighters in the world. Oh thanks for helping Dad save him.” I added. “He told you about that?” she asked surprised and I just nodded. I didn’t want to admit the conversation that had made us get into it. “Lily what are you doing in here?” Booth asked. “Getting my teaching plans ready.” I laughed. “Oh Professor Carlyle my bad.” He laughed, “Which class?” “Love spells.” “Makes sense… you love spells.” He nodded. “Does she?” Mom and Cole asked together. “She doesn’t seem to mind when we train with them.” He said quickly realizing I still hadn’t come clean. “She doesn’t mind anything to do with training.” Mom said but Cole shook his head and I knew by their sudden silence he’d gestured to my sudden pouring over the love spell in the book. “So what are you going to teach?” Booth asked me. “I figure what better way to teach love spells than to have them make the love spells?” I asked, “So we’re going to make this one.” I smiled showing it to him, “It is harmless enough just make somebody have a crush on you. It will be fun to make and fun to place on people.” I laughed and Cole and Booth laughed with me. Mom glared though. “Read the warning.” She warned. “If they make it too strong the person will fall in love. I know that’s why I’ll have the antidote waiting and they can only place it on the boys I convince to volunteer. If they don’t do the spell right I’ll say the antidote and they can try again. When the class is up and they’ve had fun I’ll let the boys out of their crushes and they can all go back to normal.” I smiled angelically. “You thought it through.” She nodded. “Of course I did.” I smiled at her. “I do think through some things.” “Well since Professor Stridden has so much free time now I was wondering if this week you two would be willing to exchange your training time for lesson planning. You need a professor to help you.” She smiled and then at my worried eyes she assured me laughing, “By next week though you and Cole should be able to plan your lessons together alone.” “I’m sure that even if we can’t we’re going to.” Cole said pulling me closer, “I’m still not sure I’m going to follow through with this crap about us having to go to school even the day after the wedding.” “You two are the ones that picked a Sunday.” Dad said coming in. “Nobody told us we couldn’t have one day off school. We always took two weeks before.” I protested, “It’s always been on a Sunday.” “We’ve always traveled the world.” “You’ve always said you’ve traveled the world while staying in one place.” Kalila corrected coming in. “Thanks for ruining the secret.” I growled, “You weren’t even supposed to know that.” I laughed looking at Cole sheepishly. “I knew you told her.” He assured me with a kiss. “Kissing isn’t allowed.” Mom interrupted just before his lips touched mine but he just paused letting my hand come out of his so I could freeze them, “Too late honey.” She laughed. “Dang-it.” I groaned as Cole pulled away slowly. I got an idea though and hurriedly moved close to him pressing my lips to his even though they were still there and we’d be in trouble. “I love you.” I promised after the quick kiss had become somewhat longer and Mom and Dad had separated us. We were now across the room from each other. “Love you too.” His thought came. Booth was sitting next to me so for the rest of the period since it was obvious I’d now lost my ability to touch Cole too… As the thought crossed my mind I felt a tiny shimmer run across my face and smiled. Cole’s powers had expanded too. He’d never been able to do that before. “When did your powers expand?” I asked him through my thoughts. “Quite suddenly a few weeks ago. It was a huge jump.” © 2013 Mary Greenwell |
