Chapter ThirteenA Chapter by Mary GreenwellChapter 13 “I didn’t need your thoughts to get that thought Lily-be.” He said smiling as his thoughts were silenced and I felt my face go cold. “I’m going to surprise you with something later… relax.” He whispered in my ear and I felt my face go back into a smile after he kissed me. Everybody in the room relaxed at my smile. “What type of surprise?” I whispered. “The good type. I’ve got to go out for a few hours though.” He smiled. “You’re leaving?” I asked worriedly. “I’ll be back in a few hours go hunt you need to get a few more carnivores remember more carnivores it’s a slow process back to your full control after so much human blood.” “If you’re so worried stay home.” I tried. “I can’t I have to get your surprise ready.” He said on my lips but I pushed the kiss deeper to be more persuasive in my request. His eyes looked indecisive when he pulled away. “Surprises can always wait until tomorrow I’ll never know the difference.” I begged, “I’ve missed you.” I kissed him again wrapping my arms around him and felt the familiar pull of the blink but it wasn’t the pull of being taken with the blink it was the pull of when he blinked when I was close he’d blinked away in the middle of the kiss. “Dang I really hate when he does that.” I sighed. “Well he apparently wants to surprise you so Leo will wait here while we all take you and everybody else to all of your surprises.” Piper smiled and I groaned their surprises never made us as happy as them. “What wonderful witch landmark are you taking us to today?” I asked. “You’ll see when we get there everybody in the cars so we can make our plane.” Liz smiled just as happily. “Wait plane ride?” I asked. “Yes we’re going on an actual trip.” Piper nodded. “Do we need luggage?” Kalila asked everybody was a lot more pumped now that we were getting on the plane. In this family that meant we were usually at least going across the country if not out of it. “Can we at least know what country we’ll be in?” I asked and I felt a little of the wall Cole had put up twitching he’d caught part of the conversation and was deliberating whether to put it down or not. “I dare you to put it down.” I sent knowing it was far enough down he’d get the challenge. “Nope I’ll wait for Leo or just keep it down enough to hear.” He sent back. “You know if you keep it down enough for that it will come down all the way soon enough. You love my thoughts too much.” I challenged knowing I’d win but that he loved a challenge. “I love you, Lily-be.” “I love you too, Cole but what was your decision are you taking my challenge or waiting for Leo?” “You know I’m taking it.” He sent and I smiled glad we had never had a distance except for death that we hadn’t been able to hear each other. “So what’s Cole doing?” Madison asked when I turned my attention to them. “Oh just seeing how long he can keep up a semi-wall on our thoughts.” “What do you mean?” Poppy asked everybody confused not understanding at all about our thought sharing. “He’s letting some thoughts come and go but trying to keep his surprise a secret.” I smiled, “It’s very hard to keep up and will only take me a couple hours to break his.” “Oh really?” Cole’s thought came. “Your wall came down a little already might want to fix it.” I warned him laughing with my thoughts but letting my thoughts tell him how upset I was with his stunt at home. He knew I hated when he blinked away in the middle of a kiss. “I’m very sorry, Lily-be.” “No you’re not.” “Yes I am I’m going to make it up to you as soon as I get to you. You’re on the plane now so it’s going to be a few hours before I can get to you still but I’ll show you just how sorry I am.” “You could show me now.” “You know I don’t like to replay those scenes. That’s your thing.” “I wasn’t thinking of doing that.” “Then what?” “You could tell me what your big surprise was.” © 2013 Mary Greenwell |
