SNAP.

SNAP.

A Story by Mary Effing Trexler

Regrettably, I had begun falling for you, in spite of myself. And for that, I am the most sorry. From day one, we agreed we'd not get emotionally involved, that we would keep it purely physical.

But you didn't follow the rules.

I begged you not to do that; absolutely begged. I told you not to bring me gifts, not to tell me about your life, not to get too close. You were never supposed to listen to my problems, to hold me when I cried, to tell me everything would be alright...

You were supposed to show up, f**k me, and leave.

             END OF STORY.

And then, just as suddenly as it had began, you tried to end it. You tried to replace me. With her. When I tried to leave, you'd convince me to stay, not knowing each time you'd call me back to you was strengthing our bond that much more.

  Or maybe, you did know.

I'd like to think that you did know; it makes this that much easier.

When I tried to cut it off, you needed me, you didn't want to lose our special connection. So then why was it okay for you to go? Why were you just supposed to be able to walk out at your leisure?

Why was it okay for you to hurt me? As though I'd ever been anything but good to you?

I was ALWAYS good to you.

Yet in the end, you chose her.

I promised you I wouldn't love you, so I suppose an apology is in order. I'm sorry you made me love you.

I'm sorry you made me love you.

I'm sorry you made me love you.

    I'm sorry...

But I'm not sorry for what I've done to you; you deserved it. You deserved to feel a fraction of the pain I'd felt from you. I'm not sorry I slit your throat, that I cut out your heart with a butched knife, removed your eyeballs with a razor blade, . I'm not sorry I left you lifeless on your kitchen floor, swimming in a pool of sweat and blood.

I'm not sorry I killed you, because you deserved it. I'm not sorry that I made you hurt like you hurt me. I'm not sorry you're gonna now.

I'm only sorry I'd ever begun falling for you in the first place...
