Drop

Drop

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

At the station

Leave the baggage

Leave ideas of how things should be

And predictions of destinations

Be not a fortune teller

And buy not the round trip

Creating cycles

At the train station

Once and for all

Make that one decision

And drop it all

With such precision

Aboard the train

The ride of a lifetime

Will only tell

The story of who and what

The where and when

But if you stay in your head

You may miss the train
