Infinite Ways

Infinite Ways

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Only rivers

Various fluids and tones

Shades of magenta and blue

And then green and orange are some of my favorites

Rivers of rock and wood

Steel and concrete too

All pouring at their own pace

To the inevitable place

They came from

In the first place

Where there is no counting

There the merging and submerging

The floating

The place where shallow and depth irrelevant

Where meaning and labels

Are particles too

Of the infinite Mother ocean

She receives and accepts all ways

Recollecting the presence of all rivers

In her womb
