A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Thank you

Last night I entered the portal

Of your mouth in moisture

With so much suction and giving

I opened and went

All the way to the other side

All the way to the wetlands of luster

Where the void and hallow mid

Was wrapped and engulfed by the treasures of nature

Where our bodies spoke in extension

Of our flowing hands that communed not long ago

On the table whose gifts cultivated so much longing

In this portal there was only one

The singularity of passion left behind all irrelevant past

All irrelevant future

It was just there you and I

Naked as the sun wrapped in blue sky

Whose other side welcomed every light particle of the crescent moon

Whose dreams were amplified with every exchange

You will be gone for weeks, and while I only want to treasure

The memory of your jacket on your couch

Pressed against my face in wonder was not enough

But you, were certainly just right

Thank you
