I remember

I remember

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

I remember

I remember the promise

Where doves fly

Above the mountains

Where the splash of colors merge

To the song of their wings

Flapping the truth of the sun

The truth of that promise

That seed

Where dimensions unfold

The future

I remember its calling

I remember the harps and flute

I remember the dream of home

The place of its dwelling

And it’s doorway in my heart

Oh so much longing

I know even while it beholds

There the embrace for which I await

There too there is longing

Where travelers come home

For now a candle burning

This body, this mind, this earth

I must remember diving

To swim to the sunrise at the shore of infinity
