Green Inspiration

Green Inspiration

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Green Inspiration

I cannot get enough of green

Money is good

But the trees are even better

Money can buy

But my eyes cannot wait

To feast on nature’s lusciousness

The color of hope, growth

That of eternity

At least of that promise

Let us not wallow in the limited corner of our sadness

So long as we have a window

To glance out at the lush green of eloquence

Against the backdrop of vastness in blue

Confusion, in gray

Stormy and true

I ask myself to move along to a new season

Learning from the patience of trees

And the gesture of their branches

Hanging out in generosity

Even wiser

Let’s not allow society’s ignorance cut off our limbs

Let us rise up as a society

And cut of the limbs of hypocrisy

In the cult of toxic governments, religions, corporations

There is so much to do

Life continues without a care

 Awaiting for none

Yet is at our door

And in every step
