Tree

Tree

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Tree

Rooting into the earth

Yet reaching onto heaven

An instrument we behold

This body

The notes belonging to none

To the ethers

I dream of humanities melodies

Like the woorling echo that fills the shells crashing up the shore

From the ocean of infinity

May we be an instrument to that

That something pure from above

Unlike a chandelier

Grounded in the backyard of our mind
