Mountains

Mountains

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Mountains

The snow peaked mountains

After the storm, illuminated the sun

Like crystals hanging from the ocean above

Scarved with clouds

As those in Michael Angelo’s dreams

Clouds onto the sky

As foam onto the ocean waves crashing at my shore

While I navigate the Free Ways

Of what is and potential

With constant double take in awe

My friend is with me

Along my thoughts

From city to city in a carriage

In spite of layers of winder clothes

I wear a smile

Exposing teeth

Like the crystal illumination of the sun

Speaking of illuminations

Of the fuel of motivations

There is much to discuss and feast over

With my new friend

Who like Michael Angelo’s Dream’s

Manifested on the brim ceiling heights of my ascent

I only know that

Like the kombucha in my mouth of desire

The taste of freedom

Ever zesty

No moment dull

Here is a toast in commitment to staying alive
