Elizabeth

Elizabeth

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Elizabeth

She like a queen

Dignified, creative and flowing

Something about her

To warn in the kindling of our smiles

I stay connected

Between her fairy like garments

She wears her wit with an unforgettable delight

The wave of her hat bears an open mind

With which her stillness may be contained

Yet something about her keeps giving out

In a van of mantras from street to street

Spreading the word of silence

Along pathways and perhaps roadblocks

Along the shores of lonely hearts

With imagination pouring into sounds of bells

Something about her

Larger than her operatic voice can emit

Emanates from her singing bowl

On her lap of courage

Where the wind is free from grasping

As she in the lesson of the gypsy remains
