The Sky Is Blue

The Sky Is Blue

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

The Sky Is Blue

Beyond the solitude of time

An oasis of nostalgia calls

Into the land of the mother that never was

The echoes through the phone lines

Have me reach to the empty nest filled with fantasies

The presence of nest is my savior

The weave of a twig, leaf, feather, skill and desire

Gently nudging a nudge of reminder

Now too big to fit in, yet still tender

It is up to me

The present time is all

Beholding a gem

With the nostalgia of the cave from which it came before I

I gather up

The sky is blue

Off I go now

In discovery of new
