Down Pour

Down Pour

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Down Pour

In the dark of night

Even when the moon is sleeping

The stars reflect

In the stormy night

Black covered canopy skies

Heavy with pain

Wash down reflective drops

Sometimes hail is reminiscent of shooting stars

And in my pain

There is awe

This brick road of distress

And numbed blistered feet of mine

And that which oozed

Was more than puss

Cleansing these tarnished scars of mine

After the nightmare

There is a morning to awake to

Sometimes in the middle of the night

There is a flower in my vase

Amidst these waters that connect

I sometimes an island

Waiting for the down pour
