No More

No More

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

No More

They have turned the sky white

Trails and trails crisscross the sky

Widen the spread of chemicals

A daily occurrence

The denial and dismissal of facts

Schizophrenic minded scientist

Project pharmaceutical lies

And with the recipe of patsies

Authorities wipe their mouths clear

Of whispering headlines

Distracting fluff

Force feed the tableted deceptions

Contrails and sheer dismissal

Echo in the insane asylum

Have you looked up at the sky

Or are you so engaged in the movie

That you forgot where you are

All day I watch

The poisonous markings of the beast in the sky

Year after year

Yielding illness and cool weather

There is no escape

No evacuation plan

The fire fighters and police men have all left behind

Their conscience and liability of oath

To protect and defend against all enemies

Yes, All

Foreign and domestic

Do you remember

When did we cease to exist

I pray for a day of sunshine

And the glare of solar rays

To burn away

This unfathomable debt

To our souls on earth and in the sky
