Pure Like Snow

Pure Like Snow

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Pure Like Snow

When the light goes dim

And vision grows grim

When pain, misery and despair

Mushroom like fungus

And feed the thronged vampires from the black hole

When there is nothing left

To hurry, rush and bustle out the door for

When the clarity of the false cry of the wolf

As all elixirs of the cloaked mad scientists

Poison the air

May the promise of the paradox prove to be true

As the rubble of hope

And ashes of regret burn

May the old mind die in intoxication

And ultimate release come through

Let humanities basic goodness Shine through

An open fist in complete disregard

Of all the further jargon to sort out through

The only promise left

But not in spite

Newly discovered

And tenderly precious

In the heart of hearts

Birth from the ashes

Pure like snow

Humanities goodness

Because it is so
